Pricing & Plans: Fairly cheap
That’s $6.79 per month and $51.00 per year when transferred to US dollars.
The plans are all-inclusive of all the features they have listed, even during the trial. Overall, that’s pretty solid pricing; we’re used to seeing $60 per year costs, so seeing this almost $10 cheaper is pleasing. Yes, there are cheaper options, but that doesn’t detract from the great pricing found with Tunnello.
The monthly subscription price of $6.79 is also a bit lower than the standard $10-12 that premium VPNs like ExpressVPN charge.

Tunnello VPN has a diverse set of payment methods that make it plenty accessible to interested users around the world; you can pay in just about any way.

Sign Up Process: Easy as pie
Tunnello has a very easy process. It only takes about a minute.
The VPN is a Chrome extension, so you don’t need to go through a serious installation process. If you’re a Chrome user, one click is all it takes to get this VPN running on your computer.
Tunnello on iOS and Android is also easy to get going. Simply get the apps from the respective app stores, turn on and go!
Users, however, still need to register to create an account to be used to log in.
Product Interface: Extremely clean
The VPN has a really good-looking website. The colors and fonts make it easy for people to find tabs containing the information they’re looking for.
As for Tunnello’s browser plugin, it’s easily found on the upper right corner of the Chrome browser where you can freely switch to whichever server you want. This makes it easy to access and manage your VPN connection without opening more stuff onto your screen or jamming more icons onto your taskbar.
With the dropdown box and the big Go button, shifting from server to server is a breeze.
IP and DNS Leak Test: No leaks found
We tested to see if Tunnello is worthy of being considered a stable and secure provider and we weren’t let down.
The IP leak test results are clean and consistent. See below:
However clean the DNS leak test results were, the US server wasn’t appearing to be a US server at all. The US results appeared to be in Belgium – strange.
All in all, the results were clean and showed no servers that weren’t provided by the VPN which could have indicated a leak.
Tunnello VPN Neutral Points
Servers and Locations: How many servers do you have, exactly?
With over 1,100 servers or is it 110 servers?
We’re not exactly sure, since their website’s homepage says 110, while their Get Started tab says 1,100. (It probably is 110, though.)
Dissonance aside, these servers are located across 14 different countries spanning the globe. With 110 servers in total, they have about 8 servers per country which isn’t a lot… we’re not sure where to place this.
Despite their (potentially) hefty server count, Tunnello encourages their users to follow and submit their suggestions for more server options through their social media accounts like Facebook and Twitter.
Device Compatibility: Basics covered, with more on the way
Tunnello has or is in the process of developing their services for various platforms like Windows, Mac, and iOS.
Fear not, Android users, you haven’t been forgotten. They are currently having their Android services running under beta. We’d love to see support for routers, smart TVs and more – the devices that often get overlooked, but add a lot of functionality to a VPN service – particularly that router!

Our tests show that the EU servers performed the best if we ignore the usual heavy speed falloffs with connecting to China.
Netflix Test: Nope, nothing, nada…sorry, tube addicts
If you’re looking for a VPN that can access Netflix, then Tunnello is not what you’re looking for; in fact, you’re going to be sorely disappointed. This ain’t no NordVPN.
Although they claim to unlock any website, the dreaded black screen still popped up for us. No binge-watching Netflix shows with this VPN – sorry folks. Look elsewhere for your Netflix habits (when was the last time you went outside? Get those vitamin D tablets, quick!)
On a random side note, we tested their other unblocking claims, and you may be pleased to know Tunnello had no problem accessing adult sites and the like. Please don’t ask about extensive testing here.
Torrenting Policy: Only 2 servers to torrent on
Tunnello does not allow torrenting for 12 out of their 14 regions.
Their Netherlands and Russia servers both allow P2P Torrents. Information on server restrictions can be found on their List of Servers page found on the bottom of their website.
We’d have liked to see Tunnello joining the list of VPNs that offer full torrenting support; torrenting is a core component of VPN usage, and it’s why a lot of people pick up a VPN (you might be one of them!). Offering just 2 servers makes the offering limiting, and frankly, disappointing.
Still, you can torrent. That’s why it’s not a con – but it’s definitely not a pro either.
Refund Policy: 7-day trial, but no refunds
Users who use Tunnello’s service get a 7-day trial period to check if they want to push through with their subscription. If you decide not to continue the subscription with Tunnello, you can choose to get a refund, providing you request a refund within the given window.
It’s an okay deal, but we’ve seen 30-day trials, no questions asked. We think 7 days is a little bit short, as you might not decide your final verdict on the game within a week. It’s better than nothing, but we’d like to see a longer period of time.
If you miss the trial period and are billed, say goodbye to your money; there are no refund options at all.
Customer Support: No live chat, in fact, little support at all
There are no live chat options for any hopeful users with this VPN.
The closest thing they have to a feedback system is the rating option to review a user’s experience with their service.
When it comes to documentation, Tunnello runs a ticketing system for requests on their Help and Support quick links. Overall, it’s a little barebones – we’d definitely like to see major improvements to customer support here.
They also have an FAQ page where users may also ask the community for answers that weren’t provided in the already existing knowledge base. The knowledge base contains documentation on how users can get started, basic troubleshooting, and common inquiries regarding the billing system. Again, this is very basic. There are very few entries in the knowledge or FAQs section.
C’mon Tunnello, make it easy for people to troubleshoot your VPN, already!
Logging Policy: No logging?
Their Terms and Conditions page is sorely lacking on information regarding their data collection, so we’re not exactly sure what to think about their logging policies. We’d recommend caution with Tunnello – if they’re making it this hard to find, there could be some skeletons in this closet.
You’ve been warned! Your data and identity are at risk with Tunnello VPN. If you truly want a no logging VPN you can start with ExpressVPN and PIA VPN.
Encryption and Protocols: Military-grade protection? No, not exactly
4096-bit encryption, Tunnello referred to this as military-grade on their website, but the true military-grade encryption is the AES-256. The AES-256 is logically nearly impossible to crack.
There has been news of this 4096-bit being cracked in the past. We can’t exactly say that this is tight security with a good conscience. If you’re looking for the strongest protection around, Tunnello isn’t offering it.
Kill Switch: No kill switch
Tunnello does not have a kill switch. Very much a bummer; a kill switch protects you should your connection be disrupted. To see them lack one is a buzz-kill and another nail in the coffin for their service. A shame, to be sure.
Tunnello VPN as a Business
The 3-year-old VPN was developed by 3 friends back in 2016.
It’s available to users across the globe and has been used by over 1 million customers. They have been providing security for two years so far with a year of R&D.
Jurisdiction
Tunnello is based in France and you may have already noticed this with the default Euro currency on their website. France is under the Nine Eyes Alliance (an extension of the 5 Eyes Alliance).
Users run the risk of having their data shared between the countries within this mass surveillance organization and their partners, particularly given the questionable lack of a clear logging policy.
Tunnello VPN Conclusion: There are better options elsewhere
Tunnello doesn’t pass our test.
It has OK speeds and offers unlimited bandwidth for users. Their free trial option is also thoughtful for their users, though it could be longer.
This French VPN really would have been a great bang for your buck if they had a kill switch and allowed Netflix. We also believe 100+ servers is far too low of a count, and we don’t exactly know where they stand on logging (although we’re fairly sure they log). It’s all a bit wishy-washy with Tunnello, and for a $50 price tag, we expect more.
Honestly, there’s nothing with Tunnello you can’t find elsewhere, for cheaper, that does a better job.
